Christmas Bird Count
Sat., Dec. 15, 2012, 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
Help count birds wintering at Wehr. You'll meet some of the most talented and persistent birders in the area as we count birds in the most important and longest-running bird count, the National Audubon Society's 113th annual Christmas Bird Count. This count is held throughout the country and provides information on long-term trends. Our results will be submitted to the Wisconsin Society of Ornithology (external link). Bring field guides and binoculars if you'd like. A map of Wehr's boundaries will be available for each participant.
Past participants may choose to go directly to a count site. If so, please let Mark know the location where you will be counting and request a data sheet by contacting him at mark.verhagen@ces.uwex.edu or (414) 425-8550
At noon, enjoy a potluck chili lunch. We’ll supply the chili, and you may choose to bring a dish to pass--but it’s not required.
Continue the count in the afternoon if you've been "bitten by the birding bug."
Register by the Saturday prior to the program
