Mental Health Board - Shrout
Duncan M. Shrout
My wife Eileen Olen and I have been residents of Milwaukee County for over 50 years. We have four children and seven grandchildren. I am a graduate of Marquette University and the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee. I retired in 2011 after 40 years of service in the non-profit and government human services’ sectors.
I am a member of the State Council on Alcohol and other Drug Abuse since 2008 when appointed by Governor Doyle. Re-appointment to a full four year term was made by Governor Walker in September 2011. I was elected in September 2011 to serve as SCAODA Vice-Chair. I am also a member of the Combined Community Services Board since my appointment by Milwaukee County Executive Abele in February 2013.
My other volunteer interests include Habitat for Humanity Milwaukee (HFHM) and the Meal Program at St. Benedict the Moor Church. I have been a member of the HFHM Electrical Crew since 2000. Providing electrical service in a newly constructed home is always exciting and challenging work. Homeowners are low income families committed to living in north side Milwaukee neighborhoods. Through the Meal Program at St. Bens, we feed between 300 to 500 children and adults six days a week. Our meal guests are most frequently the poor and disabled of Milwaukee’s near north and south sides.
