Restoring neighborliness to neighborhoods

Milwaukee’s Connecting Caring Communities Project Partnership is made up of individuals and organizations working to enhance the ability of older residents to remain in and contribute to the life of their neighborhoods. 

As of late 2008, over 200 people in six neighborhoods have been involved in the organization and activities of Connecting Caring Communities. Partners include older adults as well as representatives from government, social service organizations, churches and businesses.

Funding is provided by:

• The Faye McBeath Foundation
• The Greater Milwaukee Foundation
• The Helen Bader Foundation. 

Project partners believe that:

• Older adults benefit from being connected to their communities through reduced isolation and increased social interaction
• Communities benefit from connections with older adults through enhanced resident stability, historical perspective, economic impact, and contributions of elders to their communities.
