BOERNER BOTANICAL GARDENS

Braille signage is found throughout the Education and Visitor Center on the wall located 60” above the floor on the latch side of the door.
There are two sets of automatic doors located at the east and south entrance of the Education and Visitor Center.
Accessible water fountains are located on all three floors of the Education and Visitor Center
Educational Classes and Education Center:
Individuals needing accommodation should contact the educator of the Friends of Boerner Botanical Gardens (FBBG) in order to make a request for accommodations for a future visit date. FBBG will contact the Office for Persons with Disabilities.
There is an accessible elevator located in the Education and Visitor Center.
Accessible ramps are located throughout the Gardens.
All exhibits (including plant collections) are ADA Accessible. (Exception inner area of the Rock Garden) Can be viewed from pathway going around the Gardens.
Family (unisex) Restroom:
A family (unisex) restroom is located inside the Education and Visitor Center.
An AED machine is located by the passenger elevator in the Education and Visitor Center
The café is open during the admission season. A soda machine is located on the first floor of the Education and Visitor Center.
Accessible parking spaces are available in the front row of the parking lot. Vehicles parked in these spaces must display a Disabled Parking Identification Permit hangtag or Disabled license plate.
The Gardens have a mixture of pathways. There are gravel, asphalt and brick paths. However the grade may be challenging for persons using manual wheelchairs and walkers.
For the safety of our visitors, no weapons (guns, personal safety devices, sharp implements, etc.) are permitted inside any of our buildings.
Accessible restrooms are located in the Education and Visitor Center and the Comfort Station.
Pets are not allowed at the Botanical Gardens. Service animals that assist individuals with disabilities and comply with the Milwaukee County ADA Service Animal Procedure are welcome at the Gardens.
Sign Language Interpreters:
Individuals needing a sign language interpreter should contact the facility in order to request an interpreter for a future date. Sign language interpreter requests will be directed to the Office for Persons with Disabilities Sign Language Interpreter webpage.
All signs in the Education and Visitor Center are at accessible heights.
There is not any bus service line to the Botanical Gardens
A limited number of wheelchairs are maintained by the Gardens for use while at the Gardens free of charge. Visitors are encouraged to bring their own mobility devices, as the number of complimentary wheelchairs is limited and are loaned out on a first come first serve basis.
Wheelchairs, Mobility Aids, and other power driven devices:
Wheelchairs, Mobility Aids, and Other Power Mobility Devices that comply with the Milwaukee County ADA Wheelchair, Mobility Aids, and Other Power Driven Mobility Devices Procedure are welcome at the Gardens.
WiFi is available in the Education and Visitor Center. Ask at the front desk for the password.
