Milwaukee County Parkway Inventory

Bookmark and Share

The Milwaukee County Park System is comprised of over 15,000 acres, and parkways make up nearly 49% of that total. In 2012, historians with Mead & Hunt, Inc. conducted a reconnaissance-level survey to determine which components of the Milwaukee Parkway System have potential historical significance.

The historians found that many components are eligible for, or listed in, the National Register of Historic Places. The survey report documents these important resources following the standards of the Wisconsin Historical Society.

Milwaukee County is undertaking a Historic Properties Management Plan to help guide project activities within our historic park and parkway system.
